Colombian actresses are taking the the TV and film world by storm. Sofia Vergara, Catalina Sandino and Angie Cepeda are all set to appear on our screens in 2006 and 2007. Sofia Vergara, has a well established career in the US, but has now landed a role in the ABC comedy the "Knights of Prosperity". Her big screen credits include "Big Trouble" with Tim Allen and Rene Russo and her first lead in "Chasing Papi" in 2003. The 34 year old Barranquillera has was named Hispanic woman of the year in 1999 and supports charities in Colombia including a cancer centre in her home town.

The big film for Colombia next year is the much awaited production of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's classic tale of enduring love, "Love in a time of Cholera". Colombian filmstar, Catalina Sandino, will feature alongside Angie Cepeda. Sandino, the 2005 Oscar nominated star of "Maria Full of Grace" is on location in Cartagena this year. She has four other films due out in 2006 including, "Fast Food Nation" and "Hottest State".

Angie Cepeda , 32 years old, will also feature in "Love in a time of cholera" and must be relishing the work as she is from Cartagena de Indias, the location of the film. Cepeda is also benefiting from the rising tide of the colombian celebrity revolution and has another film in production this year, "Federal".

First the world had Shakira and now Colombia is exporting its most important asset - beauty.
